Grace Lin Nakamura
July 30, 1955 — May 11, 2026
Aged 70 · Savannah, GA
Grace Lin Nakamura, 70, passed gently on May 11 after a life given freely to the care of others. For more than thirty years she was a pediatric nurse at Memorial Health, where frightened children and exhausted parents alike found her steady, warm presence a comfort.
Away from the hospital, Grace painted. Her watercolors of the Savannah marshes hung in local galleries and in the homes of friends who treasured them. She painted the way she nursed — patiently, attentively, with love in every stroke.
She is remembered most for her stillness — a calm that could fill a room and quiet a fear. Her family was the center of her world, and she the center of theirs.
Survived by
Her husband Kenji; her daughters Mia and Hana; three grandchildren; and the many families whose children she helped heal.
In lieu of flowers

- The Alvarez Family
Nurse Grace held our hand through the worst week of our lives. Our son is grown and healthy now because of people like her. Thank you, forever.
- Hana Nakamura
Mom, the marshes will never look the same without you painting them. I will keep a touch of color, always.
