First, we are so sorry.
There is no checklist you must complete right now. The most important thing is simply to call. A caring funeral director answers our phone day or night, and will walk you through the very next step — nothing more than that.
Call us whenever you’re ready.
A real person — a funeral director, not a machine — will answer and help you, gently.
Call (912) 555-0147If the death occurred at home
If your loved one was under hospice care, call hospice first; they will guide you and notify the proper authorities. Then call us when you are ready, and we will come to bring your loved one into our care. If the death was unexpected, please call 911 first.
If the death occurred at a hospital or care facility
The staff there will care for your loved one for a time, which gives you a little room to breathe. When you are ready, call us and let them know you have chosen Wexford & Greene — we coordinate the rest with them directly.
What we’ll need, eventually — but not all at once
- Some basic information about your loved one, for the necessary records.
- Any pre-arranged wishes, if they made them — with us or elsewhere.
- Your thoughts on the kind of service that would feel right. We’ll help you decide.
We will gather all of this gently, over a conversation, when you come in or by phone. There is no rush.
We walk every step with you.
You reach out
Call us any hour, or come in when you’re ready. A caring funeral director will answer — there is never a wait or a phone tree at a moment like this.
We bring your loved one into our care
With dignity and gentleness, we attend to your loved one and handle the immediate, necessary details so you can be with family.
We plan together, at your pace
We sit down — here or at your home — and shape a service that reflects the life lived. You choose only what is meaningful, and we explain every cost in plain language.
We honor and remember
We carry out every detail with care, so that on the day itself, your family can simply be present, and grieve, and remember.
